John Travolta's heartbreaking tribute years after losing wife and son

<p>John Travolta has shared a heartbreaking post commemorating his late wife, Kelly Preston, and son, Jett Travolta. </p> <p>Jett was only 16 when he passed away while on vacation with his family in the Bahamas in 2009. Lisa Curry’s son suffers brutal injury

Sweet reason why Kochie wore lipstick live on air

<p dir="ltr">David Koch wore bright red lipstick in an interview on <em>Sunrise </em>on Monday morning- all for a good cause.</p> <p dir="ltr">The<em> Sunrise </em>host wore the bold colour while interviewing model Jett Kenny, the son of sporting greats Grant Kenny and Lisa Curry.</p> <p dir="ltr">Jett also put on red lipstick mid-interview as part of the Lip-Stick It campaign - an initiative that encourages Aussie men to wear lipstick on May 11 to raise awareness and help raise funds for women’s mental health support services.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Less than half of the women experiencing mental health are seeking help,” Jett said on <em>Sunrise</em>.</p> <p dir="ltr">The initiative comes after the tragic death of Jett’s sister Jaimi, who had passed away three years ago from mental health issues.</p> <p dir="ltr">Ever since then Jett had vowed to raise awareness and funding for the cause, and is now the inaugural ambassador for the Lip-Stick It campaign.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Encouraging those people to just talk about it and having the strength that they might need to voice what they are going through. I think that was the biggest thing I found was they were so reserved, or she [Jaimi] was so reserved talking about her issues and her struggles”, Jett said.</p> <p dir="ltr">He added that, although not everyone with mental health issues experiences the same thing, he wants to encourage women to “just speak about it”.</p> <p dir="ltr">Kochie then told Jeff to “whack on the lippie”, as they talked about the campaign further.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I was trying to [apply lipstick] the other day and it is quite difficult. I might look like the Joker while I do this,” Jett told Kochie.</p> <p dir="ltr">“A lot of people think I look like the Joker without the lipstick,” Kochie quipped.</p> <p dir="ltr">Jokes aside, Jett then told the <em>Sunrise </em>host how proud he was to launch the campaign and support the women in their lives.</p> <p dir="ltr">“It’s our chance for us men to get behind the women that we love and support and show that we care,” Jett said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“If all it takes is to put on some red lipstick to start a conversation, and talk about it, I feel like it’s the least we can do.</p> <p dir="ltr">“It’s a big thing, not only for myself but for a lot of people. "Road to recovery": Jett Buckley's health update

<p>The son of AFL legend Nathan Buckley says he's on the mend after a serious karting crash landed him in hospital. </p> <p>Jett Buckley, 15, was at a racing circuit in Melbourne when he crashed during a practice session, as the teenager suffered a torn kidney and liver and a snapped clavicle. </p> <p>“I was thrown from the kart down an embankment landing on the tarmac with the kart landing on top of me,” he said, adding he was “OK” despite the scary ordeal.</p> <p>According to a witness and friend who helped, Jett fell about 2m to another part of the track before the kart landed.</p> <p>He was taken to Royal Children’s Hospital but has since been released and is recovering at home. </p> <p>“I’m home. I’m well and I’m on the road to recovery,” Jett said in an update on Thursday.</p> <p>“Like all sports, karting has its dangerous elements but we follow a set of strict protocols before every practice session and every race.”</p> <p>Jett stressed the crash was an accident and would not stop him from getting back on the track.</p> <p>“It’s these protocols (including the safety gear I wear like a 2nd skin) that protected me and that will have me up and about in quick time,” he said.</p> <p>“Upon reflection over the last 48 hours there is no doubt that I love this sport more than anything. <p>Robert Irwin is reportedly dating Heath Ledger's niece after the pair were spotted on a romantic outing. </p> <p>The 18-year-old wildlife warrior was seen with Scarlett Buckley, also 18, as the pair were pictured enjoying a sunset stroll in Queensland earlier this month.</p> <p>In photos published by <em><a href="https://www.newidea.com.au/robert-irwins-girlfriend">New Idea</a><a href="https://www.newidea.com.au/robert-irwins-girlfriend"> magazine</a></em>, the two are seen smiling at each other after picking up takeaway for a picnic on the beach.</p> <p>At one point, according to the publication, Robert pulled Scarlett in for a hug as the sun went down.</p> <p>While neither have spoken publicly about their blossoming new romance, Robert has been conspicuously following Scarlett's private Instagram account for some time. </p> <p>Scarlett – who has an identical twin sister, Rorie – is the daughter of Heath Ledger’s sister Kate, who runs a design and media productions company.</p> <p>Robert and Scarlett have plenty in common, as they both grew up in the public eye after suffering the devastating loss of a family member. </p> <p>Heath Ledger was at the top of his Hollywood career when he was found dead in January 2008 following an accidental prescription drug overdose. </p> <p>Kate has been vocal about keeping her late brother’s legacy alive, creating the Heath Ledger Scholarship for promising young Australian actors. </p> <p>Speaking to <em>Who magazine</em> in 2018, she said the Dark Knight actor is “hugely important” in the lives of her children.</p> <p>“There’s not a day that goes by that we don’t share stories or talk about him. Lisa Curry's sweet words for son Jett after emotional episode

<p><em>Image: channel 7 </em></p> <p>Jett Kenny has opened up about the death of his sister, Jaimi, in emotional scenes on SAS Australia.</p> <p>Drawing praise for his “courage” from his mother Lisa Curry after the program aired, she told him: “Jaimi would be so proud of you.”</p> <p>As part of a confronting challenge on Tuesday night’s episode, the recruits had to stand in front of their fellow contestants and talk about something they’re most ashamed of.</p> <p>The 27-year-old ironman told the group he “never fully understood” Jaimi’s health battles with alcohol and an eating disorder, which claimed her life in September last year at only 33.</p> <p>Jett said his sister had an ongoing battle with mental health issues for 15 years prior to her death, and at one stage, he attempted to have a heart-to-heart with her about it.</p> <p>“For me it was kind of just, ‘Why are you doing this to yourself?’ And never fully understood it,” Jett said.</p> <p>“There was one thing I said at her funeral. I’m not gonna say it because it was very personal but I remember saying it to her the night that she asked me….this question, and I gave her the honest truth. And I was hoping that was the harsh reality that she needed – hearing it from her younger brother.</p> <p>“But she’s gone now. I kind of regret not being there for her more.”</p> <p>Speaking in a piece-to-camera interview afterwards, Jett said his family, including famous Olympian parents Grant Kerry and Lisa Curry, did everything they could to support Jaimi through her struggles.</p> <p>“We did everything we could as a family and for Jaimi to try bring her out of it but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. She got told she wasn’t gonna make it to 30. She got to 33,” he said.</p> <p>“To me, it was like, you have the willpower to change your life and turn things around. But that’s me. I can’t speak for someone who’s going through mental health issues because I’ve never been there.”</p> <p>“Everyone has to do the best they can for the people they love, but when you can’t it makes you question yourself. Like, ‘Was I a good enough brother?’” Jett added.</p> <p>As he sat back down, he was comforted by his fellow recruits where he began to shed a tear. “It’s my older sister. Of course I’m going to miss her.”</p> <p>Jett was interrogated one-on-one toward the end of the episode, where he recalled his final goodbye with Jaimi.</p> <p>“I remember with my sister passing in September we were all sitting around the hospital bed with her, saying our last goodbyes. And I just remember seeing them (his parents) sitting there, holding her hand, just being, like, ‘What more could we have done?’.</p> <p>“Mum said it perfectly, she was fighting a demon in her head. And unfortunately the demons got her in the end. She’d beat some away and then more would come back.</p> <p>“It was good in a way because it was almost like her suffering was over. So she battled on for another eight and a half, nine hours from when I last saw her to when they took the life support off.</p> <p>“And that’s what she was, she was a fighter. <p>In a classic tradition, <em>Buckley’s Chance</em> is a film which explores the close relationship between a boy and his dingo in outback Australia – and Bill Nighy comes along for the ride.</p> <p>Filmed in Broken Hill, <em>Buckley’s Chance</em> was in cinemas in June of this year but you can now stream it on Amazon Prime Video.</p> <p>Well-known British actor, Bill Nighy plays a leading role alongside Milan Burch who plays the role of the young boy, Ridley. And yes – there’s a new screen star – the dingo called Buckley.</p> <p>After the loss of his father, Ridley is forced to move to the Australian outback to live with his estranged Grandfather (Nighy). While exploring the outback, Ridley becomes lost and befriends a dingo excluded from its own pack. A strong bond is formed as the two try to make their way home.</p> <p><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/np7WgFqtNzE" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></p> <p><strong>Based on the Aussie slang – “You’ve got Buckley’s”</strong></p> <p>The phrase – “You’ve got Buckley’s” is a much-used piece of Aussie slang and it refers to a convict called <span>William Buckley who escaped in Victoria in 1803 and lived among the Aborigines there for the next 30 years.</span></p> <p><span>At the time, it was thought no-one could ever survive in the Australian bush on their own and this is how the term “Buckley’s” came about.</span></p> <p data-adtags-visited="true">As Ridley’s grandfather, Spencer (played by Nighy) is trying to run a sheep station and he doesn’t really need his son’s grieving widow and her son around, complicating his life.</p> <p data-adtags-visited="true">But guilt over his estranged son forces Spencer to make an effort, teach the kid a little outback survival and lore. He even pulls out his gun every time he sees a dingo and aims at them.</p> <p>Ridly is horrified and asks him why he’s shooting a dog.</p> <p>“They may look like a dog, Ridley, but they’re more wolf than dog,” says Spencer.</p> <p data-adtags-visited="true">The kid isn’t convinced. So, when the chance comes to rescue a fine specimen of the breed trapped in a fence, he makes a new friend. One year on: Jett Kenny opens up on sister’s final moments

<p><span>Lisa Curry and Grant Kenny’s son Jett Kenny has opened up about the death of his sister. </span></p> <p><span>Jaimi died on September 14th 2020 at age 33, after a long battle with mental health issues and an eating disorder. </span></p> <p><span>Her younger brother Jett has spoken candidly about his grief at losing his sister almost one year on from her tragic death. </span><span></span></p> <p><span>The 26-year-old lifeguard, model and <em>SAS Australia </em>spoke to the Courier Mail about how he remembers every detail from the harrowing day. </span></p> <p><span>On September 13th 2020, Jett missed a call form his mother Lisa as he was finishing a lifeguard shift on the Sunshine Coast. </span></p> <p><span>He had a bad feeling when he heard the strange tone of his mum's voice, urging him to call her back. </span></p> <p class="css-1316j2p-StyledParagraph e4e0a020">Jaimi was on life support at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, and her family was gathering around her bedside.</p> <p>She was taken off life support after eight hours, and passed away another eight hours later. </p> <p class="css-1316j2p-StyledParagraph e4e0a020">“She fought all the way to the end,” Jett said.</p> <div class="hide-print ad-no-notice css-qyun7f-StyledAdUnitWrapper ezkyf1c0"> <p class="css-1316j2p-StyledParagraph e4e0a020">“The doctors thought it was going to be about a minute or two, so she was a fighter, that’s for sure.</p> <p class="css-1316j2p-StyledParagraph e4e0a020">“She originally got told she may not make it to 30, and she got to 33 so she battled on with it for a long time.”</p> <p class="css-1316j2p-StyledParagraph e4e0a020">After Jaimi's death, her parents broke the news on social media saying she <span>died after battling a “long-term illness” and had “passed away peacefully.”</span></p> <p class="css-1316j2p-StyledParagraph e4e0a020">Most people were unaware of Jaimi's health struggles and were shocked by the sudden news. </p> <p class="css-1316j2p-StyledParagraph e4e0a020">Jett said that the hardest part of it all was watching his parents become enveloped in their overwhelming grief. </p> <p class="css-1316j2p-StyledParagraph e4e0a020"><span>“You see your parents, and that’s the thing that gets me really upset is seeing mum and dad so upset, because no-one wants to see their parents upset in a way."</span></p> <p class="css-1316j2p-StyledParagraph e4e0a020"><span>“But after that, it was just a matter of trying to be strong for them, I guess.”</span></p> <p class="css-1316j2p-StyledParagraph e4e0a020"><em>Image credit: Instagram @jettkenny @lisacurry</em></p> </div>

<p>Former Olympian Lisa Curry left a comment on her son’s Instagram photo, writing "cute" on one of his recent posts. Strangely, this prompted a troll to add a nasty remark, stating:</p> <p>"@lisacurry you comment [on] every post to get attention."</p> <p>Quickly, 27-year-old Jett replied and in a few lines, he told the troll exactly what he thought of them:</p> <p>Jett posted: "Who the f--k are you? My mum comments on every photo and you think it's for attention? Why don't you take yourself off the internet for a while, moron."</p> <p>Jett also called out the troll on Instagram Stories by sharing a screenshot of the exchange.</p> <p>"Firstly, they don't even follow me so they've gone out of their way to be annoying," he captioned the screenshot. “I love you”: John Travolta’s tribute to Jett

<p dir="ltr">John Travolta penned a message to his son, Jett, on what would have been his 29th birthday.</p> <p dir="ltr">The tribute was shared on Instagram on Tuesday, April 13, the day Jett was born, alongside a photo of Travolta with his son.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Happy birthday my beautiful Jetty. I love you,” the<span> </span><em>Grease</em><span> </span>star wrote.</p> <p dir="ltr">Travolta’s daughter, Ella, also shared her own tribute to her late brother. The 21-year old captioned a photo of them together as kids with, “I love you Jetty. Why Jett Kenny is “very proud” of his mother Lisa Curry

<p>Jett Kenny is the 24-year-old son of former champion swimmer Lisa Curry and former Ironman champion Grant Kenny.</p> <p>However, despite his famous parents, Jett is quickly making a name for himself on his own terms.</p> <p>He’s set to appear on <em>Dancing With The Stars</em> after competing in<span> </span><em>Australian Ninja Warrior</em><span> </span>last year and also appearing in<span> </span><em>The Real Full Monty. </em></p> <p><em><img style="width: 500px; height:281.25px;" src="https://oversixtydev.blob.core.windows.net/media/7823347/jett-dancing-with-the-stars.jpg" alt="" data-udi="umb://media/3dc7ee9c5bbb4de08012ec4d038f7476" /></em></p> <p>When he's on on TV, Jett works as a professional lifeguard and follows an intense exercise regime to ensure he’s able to save the lives of those who enter the water.</p> <p>"My fitness is surf lifesaving-based, which involves training twice a day every day, then once on Saturday with a rest on Sunday," he told <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.nowtolove.com.au/health/fitness/jett-kenny-ninja-warrior-australia-2018-lisa-curry-grant-kenny-49750" target="_blank">Now To Love</a> last November.</p> <p>"I've started swimming again after a few years off and my alarm goes off at 4:20 am in the morning. I swim for an hour at 5am, then go to work, then afternoons on the water in the ocean," he said.</p> <p>"4:20 alarms aren't the most exciting things at the moment. <p>Australian Ninja Warrior has returned to screens for its second season, and it turns out there are famous offspring in the pool of contestants who will be fighting for the title.</p> <p>At this year’s Logies, <em>The Project</em> host Lisa Wilkinson confirmed that her 22-year-old son Louis FitzSimons would be appearing on the show.</p> <p>“I'm so proud! A lot of the people doing it with me had done the Spartan races and had that background, where I was going into the course completely blind. The closest thing I'd done was climbing on some monkey bars."</p> <p>While his surf lifesaving background helped him complete the fitness test all competitors need to pass before making it on the show, Jett said the course requires specific skills to come out on top.</p> <p>"Surf lifesaving is a very intense sport when it comes to training and all the different disciplines," he said.</p> <p>"You think it would give you a bit of an advantage but it's completely different. Everyone saw last year how the rock climbers did really well because of their grip strength and that's a massive thing. If anyone is planning on doing it in the years to come I would highly recommend rock climbing or something like that to work on that grip strength."</p> <p>Although he admitted he was disappointed with his result, Jett has set his sights on returning to the show next year.</p> <p>"I'd love to do it again. Coming off where I did I was a bit disappointed, but at the same time I didn't have major expectations to finish the course," he said.</p> <p>"It was a good, fun experience for me. I'm not happy with how I ended, but I'm still glad I did it.”</p> <p>It has also been rumoured that former Bachelor star Tim Robards and former NRL player Beau Ryan will be making a comeback this season.</p>
